TRAVELER  DO'S & DON'TS

Here are a few things that you the traveler should take into consideration during your travels.

DO'S

Eat the Local Food

Try new foods even if you are a picky eater. One way to experience the culture of a place is to indulge in their cuisine. You might just find your new favorite food.

Wear Sunscreen Every Day

When you are out exploring, you get a lot more sun than you think. Wear sunscreen no matter the temperature or weather, because you never know when you might get burnt.

Do the Touristy Stuff at Your Destination

Be that person that visits the popular sites to get the full experience. Take the basic pictures of the famous monuments, buildings, etc. to show your friends and family back home.

Dress Smart When Traveling

When you have travel days, dress comfortably for the journey. Wear shoes that can be easily taken off for security and dress in layers in the case that you get cold or hot.

Give Your Family and Friends a Copy of Your Itinerary

To be on the safe side, give copies of your travel plans to family and friends. They will have a good idea of where you are if a bad situation were to occur.

DON'TS

Don't Book a Trip Too Early

Wait for deals closer to your intended travel date. Booking early doesn't always guarantee you get the best deals. Look for deals on flights 3-4 months out and for cruises, waiting until the last minute could be your cheapest option.

Don't Skip Travel Insurance

Anything can happen while you are traveling. Travel insurance is there to help and protect you in both medical and non-medical emergencies. Rather than paying thousands of dollars out-of-pocket without insurance, take the safe bet and buy it.

Don't Pack Valuables or Medication in Your Checked Luggage

Your luggage can get lost or sent to the wrong place very easily. Don't get left without your cash or other valuables. Put your valuables in your carry-on bag(s) for easy access.

Don't Bring Traveler's Checks

Traveler's checks are issued with a predetermined value, meaning they can only be exchanged for that amount. Banks don't really accept them anymore so don't waste your time getting them.

Don't Overpack

The less you pack, the more room you have to bring souvenirs and other things back with you. You can pick up small things like toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and sunscreen at your hotel or a local store.
